Lahore Qalandars Clinch Third HBL PSL Title with Thrilling Victory Over Quetta Gladiators

The Lahore Qalandars claimed their third HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) title after defeating the Quetta Gladiators by six wickets in a nail-biting last match in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Their third title in four years now makes them a top franchise within the league.



A Historic Chase Under the Lights

Chasing a massive 202, the Qalandars showed they were up for the test. After opening batsman Fakhar Zaman was sent back for just 11, the team kept their cool. Mohammad Naeem (46 off 27 balls) and Abdullah Shafique (41 off 28 balls) had a big partnership that allowed the rest of the team to catch up. But, it was Kusal Perera’s 62 and Sikandar Raza’s 22 that helped Lahore clinch victory with only a single ball remaining.

Sikandar Raza had a truly outstanding path to the final. Days earlier, Raza had play a Test in England and he only got to the stadium ten minutes before the toss for the ODI. Even with a busy day, Wahab was the main reason for Lahore’s victory. Hitting the winning runs and also dismissing Rilee Rossouw.

A fine 76-run knock from Hasan Nawaz helped the Gladiators to a powerful 201/9. Saud Shakeel’s early departure for a score of 4 runs did not hold them back, as Avishka Fernando scored 29 in 22 balls and Faheem Ashraf blasted 28 in 8 balls to help them rally. But Lahore’s bowlers, headed by Afridi’s three wickets and backed up by impressive performances from Rauf and Mirza, made sure the Gladiators did not gather much momentum

Raw PSL action was postpone for nine days by geopolitical troubles in 2025. Even after these struggles, the league continued and the league’s team showed great strength. Their route to the final was set by beating Karachi Kings in the Eliminator and Islamabad in Qualifier 2.
